A little bit
about Melanie Michaels
(a.k.a. Fairy Twinkletoes)
![]()
I have been working with children for over ten years, in positions ranging from teaching literacy skills right though to flying trapeze!
As a full time children's entertainer, I specialise in making kids laugh!
This year I was even invited to entertain at the White House, Washington DC, for their annual Easter Celebrations! This was followed by a week of shows in Hollywood at the "Magic Castle" - the most famous magic nightclub in the world!
I delight thousands of children each year with amazing magic, enchanting puppetry, big laughs and hilarious surprises - performing for children at hospitals, schools and birthday parties.
For the past three years I have attended the "KIDabra International Conference" - an annual convention in America for children's magician's and family entertainers. After each conference I return home with even more wonderful magic tricks up my sleeves - keeping my show fresh and fun with hilariously funny new material!
Each year I also receive an incredible and intensive week of personal training with three of America's top children's entertainers.
My previous work experience includes Club Med Lindeman Island, as part of the Mini Club staff, and I have also taught gymnastics at Wesley College.
I spent four seasons working on American Summer camps - in Pennsylvania, New York and Wisconsin, where I specialised in tennis coaching and circus skills. Here in Melbourne, I have worked in many schools and after-care programs teaching juggling and other circus arts.
I also help bring a little fairy magic to the Royal Children's Hospital twice a month, volunteering through "Challenge" in their cancer and blood disorder ward.
Each month I donate a party to a different charity - please let me know if you would like a Twinkletoes party donated to your special cause.
Along with my great love of children, I am also a professional actress. I performed as Anne in Anne of Green Gables, at Rippon Lea gardens, and again in Perth. I have also appeared in several short films and an independent feature film in Minnesota, USA. I attended full time circus school in New Zealand where I studied clowning, juggling, trapeze and physical theatre.
Growing up I was like most little girls and had an incredible fascination with fairies. My parents once told me about the "Freckle Fairy" who would come and give me a kiss every night, leaving another freckle on my nose! There's even the story of my mum chasing me when I started prep - telling all my new classmates that my name wasn't actually "Tinkerbell" as I had been introducing myself!
Working as a children's entertainer has been wonderful and rewarding for me.. and I plan to continue for as long as there are little girls who believe in fairies!
Could there be anything more special than being thanked each day for making a little girl's dreams come true?
